Photoshop Elements 101
A class for those comfortable with their digital camera.
In the first two-hour session, learn in greater detail the proper steps to make your images better on your digital camera, and learn what the capabilities of Photoshop Elements. In the second two-hour session, use our new Dell PCs and actually perform the operations explained in the first class using a pre-chosen set of examples to learn how to correct red-eye, perform cloning, use the magical Healing Brush, color correct, make calendars and greeting cards, slide shows with sound and music, make exciting panorama photos, and other special effects this program has. Nikon D300
A significant step up in the NIKON camera line, the D-300 offers great control options to the user. Sports Photography
You purchased a great SLR camera so you could capture the sporting events your family is involved in, but the results are less than pleasing, and often disappointing. This class is for you! We’ll go through the functions and settings on your digital SLR and show you which ones will help you improve the results. Part One is a two hour class which covers settings such as ISO, white balance, the ever confusing relationship between shutter speeds and apertures, and depth-of-field. At the end of Part One, there will be an assignment to go out and photograph your favorite event using what we’ve discussed. Part Two, one week later at the same time will be for us to look at your results and diagnose what went well, or didn’t. An SLR type of camera is required for this class, as well as a longer focal length lens, (preferably 70-300mm or longer).

Portrait Photography
Taught by the Director of Creve Coeur Camera’s Class Instruction who has over 20 professional portrait photography experience, this class is for anyone who has a desire to improve their efforts when making portraits. We’ll discuss lenses, apertures, depth-of-field, equipment, and posing and lighting techniques. This is a class which owners of SLR type cameras will find most useful, however, some of the smaller point-and-shoot type cameras are often capable of making portraits as well. When you call to reserve your space, there will be an assignment given which must be prepared for the class.

f/Stops—Huh?
If you can’t tell an f/stop from a bus stop, this is the class for you. Whether you have a film or a digital camera, the principles are the same. In this class, we’ll explain the relationship between f/stops, shutter speeds, depth of field and how to make them improve your images. This is a class for anyone who has an SLR (single lense reflex) style camera with interchangeable lenses, whether it usesfilm or is digital. Bring your camera, lenses, fully charged batteries and if you have them, and are brave enough, examples of your successes or failures.

Lighting
This new class is for those who have cameras which accept external lighting, either on a camera bracket, or lighting not mounted on the camera. You must be able to attach an external flash either on a built-in hot shoe, or add an accessory mount to your hot shoe to trigger off-camera flash units. Your camera must also allow manual adjustments. We will cover using a larger flash unit on your DSLR and techniques to use to avoid the ‘deer-in-the-headlights’ look as well as avoiding red-eye. The studio lighting segment of the class will cover using simple external (not attached to the camera) light units for a more professional look. If you have a DSLR camera, and would like to advance to more sophisticated lighting techniques, this class is for you.
